Hey Rebecca, no it's true!

The InVitro Meat Consortium is a government funded group in the Netherlands, and they're working hard to be able to make meat in petri dishes.
If it works, cells from one pig would result in a quantity of meat that would have required the slaughter of 1 million animals... and the consequent environmental damage that comes from livestock factory farming (i.e. responsible for 18% of greenhouse emissions).
According to scientists, the petri pork looks more like a sea scallop- so they need to work on making it look like what people are used to...
I don't know... I think it would be amazing... but then again, I'm vegetarian. :)

I think it is a great idea! Maybe meat from a lab is gross at first but think of where the meat we eat comes from now! So cruel and bad for the environment! It gives the environmentally conscious another option!
